Candidate Profile: Maureen Adelle McLeod nee Milaney is a retired widow with deep roots in rural Alberta. Her paternal grandparents homesteaded in the early 1900s in the Veteran area of southeastern Alberta. Her maternal grandparents were itinerant farmers who finally settled on their own piece of land in Ardmore. Maureen was born in 1945 in the hamlet of Cold Lake where her father, Fabian Milaney, was Principal of the school and eventually the first Mayor of the town.
