CAV Food & Hygiene Kit Drive

A Community That Cares: CAV’s Food & Hygiene Kit Drive for the Vulnerable

At a time when many individuals and families in our communities are struggling to meet basic needs, Canadian Active Voice (CAV) is stepping up to respond.

In line with our mission of civic engagement and community-driven action, CAV launched a Food & Hygiene Kit Drive, led by Kash Khan, the founder of CAV, in collaboration with members of the Muslim community in Saint John.

Compassion in Action

This initiative reflects the belief that civic leadership must go hand-in-hand with social responsibility.
While policy matters and dialogue are important, real change often begins with compassion in action.

Partnership with YMCA – 2024 & 2025

CAV’s collaboration with the YMCA of Greater Saint John began in 2024, when the first food and hygiene kit drive was:

  • Organized
  • Successfully delivered

Building on this strong response:

  • The second drive was conducted in 2025
  • The partnership was further strengthened and expanded

Delivering Essentials with Dignity

Together, we provided kits containing:

  • Essential food items
  • Personal hygiene products
  • Other daily necessities

These were distributed by the YMCA to:

  • Vulnerable individuals and families
  • People facing economic hardship
  • Those experiencing housing insecurity or social isolation

This approach ensured that support reached those who needed it most, with dignity and respect.

Muslim Community Leading with Generosity

This initiative also highlighted the contributions of the local Muslim community, who:

  • Came together to support their neighbours
  • Demonstrated generosity and compassion
  • Reflected the inclusive, compassionate spirit that defines Canadian society at its best

Strategic Impact of Grassroots Leadership

From a strategic perspective, this effort shows how grassroots-led, non-partisan organizations like CAV can:

  • Fill critical gaps by working with trusted institutions
  • Reinforce CAV’s civic engagement model: listen, collaborate, and act

Leadership Through Example

The leadership of Kash Khan in this initiative serves as a reminder that meaningful civic impact often begins with a simple decision:

  • To care
  • To show up
  • To lead by example

Looking Ahead

Canadian Active Voice will continue to support and expand these efforts, because:

A stronger, more resilient Canada is built not only through policy, but through the way we treat and uplift one another.
