At Canadian Active Voice (CAV), civic engagement goes beyond policy advocacy and political dialogue. It includes serving our communities through compassionate action.
One of the most meaningful ways we live out this mission is through our annual blood donation drive, organized in collaboration with Canadian Blood Services and led by Kash Khan, the founder of Canadian Active Voice.
A Vision of Leadership and Service
This initiative reflects Kash Khan’s vision of connecting civic leadership with community service, particularly by showcasing the contributions of the Muslim community in New Brunswick.
Launch of the First Blood Drive – 2024
In 2024, CAV launched its first blood drive.
- More than 30 members of the Muslim community stepped forward to donate blood in one day
- Many were first-time donors, young professionals, and students
- All were unified by the belief that giving blood is a direct and powerful way to save lives
It was a moment of pride, unity, and action that set the stage for something even greater.
Second Annual Blood Drive – April 17, 2025
On April 17, 2025, we held our second annual blood donation drive, again led by Kash Khan and supported by a growing number of Muslim community members.
This year’s event saw:
- Increased participation
- Couples, families, and individuals from all walks of life joining in
- International students and healthcare workers playing a key role
This demonstrated the broad civic commitment across our diverse population.

More Than Just a Blood Drive
This initiative isn’t just about collecting blood — it’s about:
- Building bridges across cultures
- Raising awareness about the importance of giving
- Reinforcing the message that Muslim Canadians are actively contributing to the health and well-being of society
Strategic Impact and Future Plans
From a strategic perspective, such drives:
- Strengthen community partnerships
- Create goodwill with national institutions like Canadian Blood Services
- Foster a model of community-led civic engagement that other regions can replicate
For Canadian Active Voice, this is only the beginning. We plan to expand this initiative annually and encourage all communities — regardless of background — to step forward and lead similar efforts.
A Symbol of Unity
Every drop of blood is a symbol of unity, generosity, and shared humanity.
And every community-driven act of service brings Canada one step closer to becoming a more connected, inclusive, and caring nation.
